Corporations are just now recognizing that mental healthcare and mental illness are at the forefront of keeping its employees healthy and reducing absenteeism. Factually, it is the same for every organization and company trying to maintain employee health and increase productivity. Our facilitators have been trained in mental health and critical incident stress management and they know how to create conversations within the workplace when it comes to mental health.

Our Facilitators have – Have lived it / Have managed it / Understand it

Our facilitators have decades of experience dealing with employees when it comes to critical incident stress, we have all been leaders and had to help employees with their mental health, and we have been employees and affected by critical incident stress ourselves.

Trauma Informed Leadership is something that all occupations and employees can benefit from.

We use the five R method when educating employees how to respond to a mental health emergency in the workplace.

Recognize – Respond – Refer – Recover – Reconnect

All organizations must begin to recognize the stigmatization around mental health which has plagued our workplace, this needs to change.

Workshop Feedback

Honestly, what a great day, not my favorite topic and I wouldn’t say it is necessarily fun to peel back some of my own layers of life experiences and to shake some old cobwebs loose but you two have already had a huge impact on my day today and I’m sure will influence tomorrow and shift perspectives into the future. A nice contrast of content, humor, seriousness, vulnerability, honesty, real life stories and most importantly the leadership qualities you both possess that really spice up your workshop – it really struck a chord for me and I am grateful to you both for that.

I feel that leadership training and workshops like this one are like life – you get what you give, we can only lock in as much as we are open to receive and looking around the room and listening to others speak I can’t ignore the tremendously positive impact that the two Facilitators have had on each of us individually and collectively as a team, family and service moving forward. The timing of having the two of you here was absolutely perfect – I believe this has really set the stage as we build up our programs and people.

Mental Illness, anxiety and depression affects the workplace:

  • At any one time, 1 employee in 5 could be experiencing a mental health issue.
  • Estimates of the cost from mental illness in the workplace costs employers approx. $50 billion. Of the $50 billion, depression and mental illness account for close to $20 billion in lost work days and an estimated $11 billion in other costs associated with decreased productivity.
  • Mental health issues are crushing our school and university students as well, the costs has never been calculated, but mental health issues are overwhelming high schools and universities like never before.

There is, however good news. More than 80% of people suffering from depression and mental illness can be treated effectively. The key for employers is to recognize that employees may be struggling in your organization and its beneficial to learn how to support them. That is where we can help.

Mental Health training and awareness in the workplace and school reduces absenteeism, builds morale and is proven to help create an environment that is more productive.

Our presentations and workshops are taught by Health Professionals and Firstrepsonders, they provide valuable information and recognition to the employer and to the employees, and give them the skills to help them to understand developing mental health challenges within themselves, co-workers, family members and friends.
